On June 23rd, we posted an article suggesting a new, holistic approach to improving the social, physical and mechanical components of my golfing journey (see “Committed”).
Month One of the new, holistic approach (June) resulted in seventeen trips to the gym, sixteen trips to the range and eleven trips to the golf course (total of seven rounds), having played with “others” on five of those eleven occasions. Please feel free to review the attached spreadsheet (June Results) with June’s details.
Personal Perspectives:
- Motivating myself to get to the gym is truly a challenge. No time of the day really seems to work as I am typically sluggish early in the morning and even far less interested later in the day. The upside to my efforts is that it is far easier to put my socks on these days!
- My Index has moved from 14.7 to 13.0 to 12.5 (as of July 1st) with a few surprising scores.
- I have enjoyed playing with my work colleagues as well as my one engagement with the men’s group (see “Fella’s, Meet Jim”).
- My weight has remained somewhat static with a low of 196.6 lbs.
- My diet has been reasonably well managed, occasionally gravitating to genoa salami, Italian sausages, French fries and my favorite snack…cheese!
- I continue to enjoy my beer however, on June 9th, I abstained! Nothing intentional, as I just don’t see the point. I have recently discovered the pleasure of tonic water, not necessarily as an alternative to alcohol, simply a non-alcoholic drink to compliment my hedonistic activities.
All in all, it appears (at least for the month of June) my regimen has taken precedence over my Barcalounger however I do hear it faintly barking my name!
On to Month Two!
