Today’s article, remarkably, is our 150th consecutive weekly post. From its inception (About Bad Golf Guy), the venture has been a collaboration with my wife, Erin. Erin manages all aspects of the technology, is responsible for the presentation and organization of our site, searches/locates/positions our images and always takes a final peak at the content, making sure I am not making a complete fool of myself. To her credit, she has been reasonably tolerant of my exuberant use of the ... continue reading...
The Conversation
A few weeks ago, I shared “The Plumbers Story”, a brief introduction to Quantum Leap Golf. Over the past four months, I have been immersed in the Quantum Leap Golf curriculum and routinely engaged with its thoughtful founder, AP O’Neill. Upon completion of my studies a short time ago, AP asked me to share a few thoughts on how I would explain Quantum Leap Golf to my friends over a few beers. I was pleased and excited for the assignment as I have a fondness for my friends, a fondness for beer ... continue reading...
The MGA
As I drove towards the Clubhouse, I noticed something odd; a foursome, positioned between the tee box and the green complex, all wearing the same golf shirt. And, may I say, not just any golf shirt! Quite frankly, it appeared as if the peloton from the Tour de France was cycling through the 1st hole at Southern Hills Plantation. Their shirts were bright royal blue and the backs of their shirts were adorned with a large logo. After my initial sighting, I really didn’t give the foursome a ... continue reading...
Richard (Rick) Bruner (10/20/58-6/28/20)
I met Rick in the Pro Shop at World Woods Golf Club, where we worked together, “Behind the Counter,” plying funds from unsuspecting golfers. Rick served in the 2nd Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas, from October 1976 until June 1980. Following his military career, he spent twenty-five years with the Lake County (Indiana) Police Department and retired as a Lieutenant, leading the Departments Aviation Division. Rick fought a courageous battle against cancer. He dealt with the realities of ... continue reading...
Time Is On My Side
I was listening to the 60’s channel on Sirius Radio early in the week when “Time Is On My Side” by the Rolling Stones came streaming across the airways. The song was written by Norman Meade (a.k.a. Jerry Ragovoy) and was first recorded by jazz trombonist Kai Winding and his orchestra in 1963. As much as I enjoy the tune, annoyingly, it stuck with me for days! Fast forward, a little later in the week, we were visiting with our friends and golf buddies (Doug and Do) at The Shed on the ... continue reading...
One More Day
Every now and then, it dawns upon me that this “Bad Golf Guy” website is my website and I can pretty well post what I damn well please! Tough talk (it’s really harmless, trying to get a chuckle) however it does feel liberating, and on the flip-side, my loyal followers, can pretty well choose to read, or not read, what I damn well post. Also liberating, I can only assume! Today’s offering is a bit off topic and is predominantly written for my brother (John) and those that were fortunate ... continue reading...
More Confusion
A few months ago, I went to the range to hit a few balls when I was unexpectedly, yet kindly, invited to play with Deeb and Joe. I cheerfully accepted their invitation as I only had time for nine holes. Anyway, after hitting my tee ball into the right greenside bunker on the par three, 161 yard, 8th hole, I hoisted my black Sun Mountain bag onto my back and meandered across the forward tees toward the green. As I was about to exit the forward tee box, out of the corner of my left eye, I ... continue reading...
