I occasionally float adrift from Bad Golf Guy’s simplistic charter, which is defined as self-deprecating, experiential, golfing nonsense. Today’s post exemplifies such adrift. I ask your indulgence as I share a story about my father-in-law, Paul W Cramer (there is no period after the W). Paul was born in April of 1948, growing up on a ten acre farm in the southern end of Lancaster County in Pennsylvania. Paul graduated from High School in 1966 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the U.S. ... continue reading...
Child Labor
We were fortunate to have had two outstanding parents who shared many lessons on the importance of family, friends, faith, conduct, respect for elders, humility, humor and a sound work ethic. At my advanced age, I still aspire to their standards. Our Mom was a Registered Nurse by trade, working as a school nurse in our elementary and junior high schools, then as an office nurse for a revered orthopedic surgeon (Dr. Bruton), who participated in one, if not more, of Joe Namath’s knee surgeries. ... continue reading...

Back Nine With David Court, CGCS – Part 3, Quick Hits!
Concluding with Part 3 of 3 with David Court, CGCS. A few random questions to wrap up our interview: Pine Valley or Pebble Beach: I haven’t been to Pine Valley; however we were at a convention in San Francisco at the same time the AT&T Tournament was being played at Pebble Beach. We visited Carmel, walked the beach and found ourselves on Pebble Beach. My wife said to me, “I didn’t come to California to see a golf course”! Needless to say, I would take either one. This confuses me; ... continue reading...

Finally, where do you go when you have an issue and you need assistance? If I have an agronomical problem, I solicit assistance from the University of Florida’s Disease and Nematode Labs. Insects are pretty easy to distinguish, but you might not know the specific disease. You can easily ... continue reading...

Sunday morning August 11th, my black Eddie Bauer travel backpack was loaded in the car, heading to Pinehurst, North Carolina for the 119th US Amateur, fortunate to be staying with dear friends in the Pinehurst community. Funny thing, a year ago my black Eddie Bauer travel backpack would have been loaded with work files and hard copies of emails however this Sunday morning it was loaded with Pepperidge Farm Goldfish, Nabisco Fig Newton’s, David’s Original Jumbo Sunflower Seeds, Shaklee 180 ... continue reading...
