Between 2001 and 2008 my great friend and former business partner and I participated in an annual fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Our objective was to drive donations (total donations exceeded $175,000) by leveraging business/personal relationships and playing as many holes of golf as possible in one day.
Through the years, we attempted to surpass the previous year’s donations and total holes played via enhanced equipment and more efficient utilization of our dedicated *support team.
**As we were the only two players each year for the event, things kept moving!
As you evaluate our performance, you will notice a significant increase in holes played between 2001/2002 (frost delay in 2001) and between 2003/2004. This increase was a direct result of changing from electric powered carts to gas powered carts, without governors. How great is that?!
STATISTICAL REVIEW (COMBINED PERFORMANCE)
FACTS:
- One eagle in 3,314 holes of golf
- Dave (friend/business partner) had the one eagle and the lion’s share of the birdies and pars.
We had a good run over the eight years. A ton of laughs, a ton of stories and eight challenging “mornings after”!
*Our support team consisted of personalized cart drivers who were responsible for transportation and recording statistics, food station pit crew, tee-setters, pin pullers, forecaddies and my own personal divot replacement sherpa (see “A Small Dog“).
Thank you for following Bad Golf Guy.
Thank back nine can only get better!
